Done, yet sad...

So, you may remember the neighbor I told you about a few months ago. Sadly, the situation has escalated, and more or less ended today.

My neighbor was inside his house after the ladder incident for about 5-7 days - apparently his 90-year old parents called the Dept. of Mental Health because they've been worried about him. The police tried to call multiple times, were concerned that he'd killed himself, and tried forcibly entering the house at around 11:30 this morning.

First, my neighbor set fire to/blew up the lower floor of his house (apparently his front door was in my yard)
Then, he started throwing things out the upper-floor windows at the police
Next, he began shooting randomly out the window at the police (nobody was injured)
Finally, he shot himself twice in the head (and is apparently in critical condition at the hospital, with very little chance of survival)

You have or will hear about this on the news, no doubt. The press were swarming, as were the police and fire crews. All houses aside from his are okay, and I am currently thanking whatever God exists that the crews who were working on the outside of my house for the last 2 days wrapped up their work yesterday. Anyway, there's the skinny from someone who was actually there. This guy was seriously disturbed, and I feel a mix of sadness and relief this evening.

Right Round - 6/22/07 - Setlist and Commentary

Alrighty - last night restored my faith in Right Round. May was SO terrible, I wasn't sure if it was me, the dancing peeps, or what - but last night was chock-o-block, as they used to say when I lived in Scotland, and everyone appeared to be dancing for pretty much the entire night. That warms my little ticker in the nicest way.

I think next month's PSB/Erasure night is going to be CRAZY!!! I can't wait.

a weekend of good, clean fun!

So, I think I can go on record as saying that my weekend was filled with a bunch of good, clean fun and frolic, with a minimal topping of booze...

Friday - I didn't do much

Saturday - I headed up to Ligonier, PA for a family reunion. This was prompted by the death of my Great Aunt Dody (sister to my grandmother), who was a delightful lady with a gigantic family (4 kids, who beget 12 grandkids - amazing!!!). My family on that side are all extraordinary musicians or singers, so it was like an 8-hour musical review, including folk music, campy stuff, some amazing 4-7 part harmonies, you name it. I even got up and sang a couple with my dad on guitar - who would've thunk??? I spent the night in Ligonier on Saturday, then came back early Sunday morning, feeling pretty happy about the fam time.

Sunday - All the booze was consumed the next day at the RAMMY awards - before you start laughing uncontrollably over the name, that actually stands for the Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington, you dirty birds. Andy's restaurant Cityzen was up for a couple of things, so we went. They won Best Fine Dining Restaurant of the Year - YAY! Afterwards we all went to Hook Restaurant and drank ourselves into a veritable stupor. Except for me. I was actually impervious to alcohol that evening, which was good as we went to Six Flags on Monday.

Monday - took my 11 year old nephew up to Six Flags for the day. I am a roller coaster / thrill junkie, so I was psyched. We did all of the water rides and I did all of the roller coasters, which was a blast and a half. Lines were laughably short, and the weather didn't totally kill us. Andy's hangover tried to kill him, but did not succeed.
